Lisa, What a great article and I hope I am not bad because I laughed at your remark (the one in your head and almost out of your mouth)! You are right, we need to watch our reactions, because we are suppose to live out our witness in front of others. I played softball for 11 years and understand your frustrations. My boys were never into sports but if they had been and something like that had happened, I would have been in trouble. Here is the deal with me, or I should say, What God’s dealing with me about…..road rage. I, admit it, I get so mad at people who pull out in front of me and almost killing us and then driving 5 miles an hour and other situations pertaining to other drivers not paying attention. God has convicted me if I call them stupid or idiot or just being angry. Yes, we even have to waer the shirt in our cars, home etc.. because God sees and hears. That is what he convicted me about.(ouch) God said, they can’t hear you but I can! In terms of what happened at the game, God knows they cheated and God will deal with that. I love that he is our Banner and that means, God is on the battlefield or ballfield for that matter! Have a great week!
Lisa, thanks so much for this!! My husband has a question that he frequently asks our children when referencing their behavior. “What is your last name?”. Meaning, I don’t care what “other” children are doing, you are MINE and are part of THIS family, and I expect you to act accordingly. I think Jesus feels the same way. He wants us to represent His name to the world!! I am so guilty of the same kinds of jealousy for my children. We will have to both pray for God to keep us ever mindful of these truths. Love and Prayers, Susanne
We can’t be proverbs 31 women all day every day, right? I wish I could be, but even wishing for that is probably my pride (wanting to impress others or something!!)! I call the phenomenon you describe as being a “momma bear”- where we want something for our kids so badly that we’re willing to do anything to get it! It’s good to know i’m not the only one who struggles with this!!
I forgot to put this on your post at the cafe, but thank you so much for humbling yourself and talking about your very human behavior! I know we all benefit because we all do the same thing (darn it!). :)
