WFMW Three Ingredient Extravaganza
Today’s edition of WFMW calls for a quick meal when you only have three ingredients. Here is a favorite standby of mine that always comes in handy when the cupboards are bare:
The BEST Potato Soup
*3-4 peeled and chopped potatoes
(I personally like to use red potatoes and leave the skin on)
*Instant Potato Flakes
*Milk
*Butter
*Salt & Pepper
(Okay, so technically this is 5 ingredients, but I’m counting on you having butter and salt. Totally a combination that makes the world go round for me. )
Chop potatoes and place in boiling water – enough to cover about 2-3 inches.
Boil potatoes until fork tender.
Add potato flakes until you absorb the water and have a runny mashed potato consistency.
Add milk until the soup is the thickness you like. I prefer my soup a little on the runnier side. If you like it thicker, use more flakes and less milk.
Butter and salt the heck out of it.
Did I mention I love butter and salt?
AND, if you have a few more things in your cabinet, here’s how to kick it up a notch and turn it into :
Loaded Baked Potato Soup
Add:
Pepper
Grated Cheese
Bacon Bits
Sour Cream
Red Onion
Celery
Chives

I love this! Nothing better on a cold winter’s day.
Also praying for your friends. What a terrible loss. :(
We LOVE potato soup and this is different than my recipe! I can’t wait to try it!!
I am definitely going to have to try this out! Sounds so good. Thanks – Love YA!
This sounds fantastic! I love potato soup! Especially with cheese!
OOOO…I will be trying this one this weekend…I have a ton of potatoes right now….I was at SAMS and the hubby called wanting baking potatoes, you know you can’t just buy a couple of those at SAMS so for $6.50 I got a huge bag of them.
Anyway, just need to buy some flakes and we will be having some potatoe soup!!!
LOL… This is the recipe I use. It is good, and really simple.
And I ditto the butter and salt. The more butter the better.
Oh, a good twist is to add a little bit of velveeta and some bacon bits.
Hugs,
Melinda
Yum! Looks scrumptious!
Oh YUMMY!!!
I can’t wait to make this for my family!!
Thanks for sharing.

If you have a package of cream cheese, it makes a very rich potato soup. Yuuuummmmm…me thinks it’s time again for a big pot o’ soup.
