On the Road Again…
Just when it seemed we had a few moments at home, it’s time to pack up and head out! We are joining our youth leaders and 20+ teenagers for the Winter Xtreme Conference in Gatlinburg. Would you think I’m crazy if I tell you I’m so excited about going? Aside from all the great sessions, I am hoping to get to meet up with Tammy whose hubby Tony is one of the speakers. We’ve been blogging pals for quite some time and I keep missing her when they are traveling in our area. Not this time!! I’m stalking you girlfriend and I am going to hug your darlin’ neck if it kills me!
Most importantly, I’m praying our kids get themselves an enormous dose of Jesus over the next few days and that they come back supernaturally empowered to walk that increasingly elusive narrow path. I am especially burdened for young girls in general and all they face in our culture. Please pray for the women who are going as chaperones on this trip that we will have a timely word for our girls as we seek to help them internalize the Word brought by the Bible teachers. (Oh yes, pray that for our men and boys, too!) I am sensing a bustin’ loose in my prayer times for this event. So be it!
So I’m off to do more laundry than is humanly possible with one washer and dryer. However, I just got me a word that I should go at it like Zerubabbel. “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’”
Contemporary Translation: “What are you, O mound of dirty clothes? Before me and my bottle of Tide, you shall be flattened! And I will close the empty baskets with shouts of ‘Wahooo!'”
{Stupid, I know…I’m still allowed, aren’t I?}
See you after the New Year!
Love the laundry verse! (The Scrpiture version is one of my all time favorite verses!) I think I’ll adopt the laundry version as a new favorite!
Have a God-filled trip. I’ll pray that the Lord shows up in mighty ways to every one of you!!!
I think you should put your translation on a plaque and sell it at Cracker Barrel. I would so buy one for the utility room!
Have a blessed time on the trip! I pray that the Lord shows up and shows out and leaves a BIG impression on the kids!
Seems like this time last year you were excited about doing laundry in your new "combo" washer & dryer! LOL At least you can wash and dry simultaneously!
Hope it's a wonderful, Spirit-filled retreat!!
Are you going to see Third Day while you’re there?
Also, do you notice the coffee themed users who have commented??
Yes, I’m going to see Third Day!! I CAN NOT WAIT! :)
And there are some coffee loving girls out there! lol I love every last one of them too..:)))
Lisa – Your translation to the “laundry verse” is hysterical! Praying y’all will have a marvelous and God-filled retreat.
Adrienne
Have a great and safe trip! Have fun and try not to stay up to late!
I loved the Contemporary Translation!!!! I love to use The Word in my everyday. I hope ya’ll have a great time. I love getting to spend time with the youth at my church. I was blessed with getting to chaperone on our last trip to Florida. It was awesome. It was truly life changing for me. Their worship is so pure. I love it. It’s like our youth says, “God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!” =)
I hope you have a lovely time in Gatlinburg!
Your New Years Resolution =Stupidity in moderation!!
Absolutely Sister Nikki! Couldn’t we all use a dose of that?!
Happy Birthday again !!
That is a great ‘translation’! Hope you all have a great trip and fun New Year!
I love your spirit! I found you on another persons blog. God Bless and have fun!
Oh girl! I love it! I read it to my husband and we both got a good chuckle out of that translation!
Lord, I ask that You would use this retreat to set the youth on fire for You! Give them a passion and a love for Your Word, O God!
Be with all those who are going to minister to Your kids! Show Yourself faithful and amazing (cuz’ You are)!
Bless you blog-friend!
Julie
First of all, I am so excited to go on the trip too! I can't wait to spend time with the youth and you adult girls! Second, I am so using that laundry translation. And third, do you think if I bring my nursing book with all the pics of decaying & rotten private parts it would scar them for life, or just long enough?
I think… If you can get gals around the world to think about Scripture while doing the laundry you have acheived a great feat! Good job! And we will be praying for you!
Amber is very sore & cranky….pain medication side effect. You guys have a blessed trip. Wish we were rockin it in together! And yes Karri, bring all the pictures. I don't mind scarring them for life if it helps!!
Have a great trip, and please update us on how it goes! I know there’s only so much about the girl time you can share, but I love to observe and learn from others as they minister.
God bless you all at the youth event!
LOL… you crack me UP! Love it! Praying for all of you at the youth event. Have a fabulous time!
Love your blog…found you through a friend of a Missionary friend here in Wisconsin…small world!!
Hope you have a great time with your Youth!!!
Great interpretation! Love it, sister!
Work Holy Spirit…..make hearts more like Yours!
Enjoy the trip and all that it entails. Lives are being changed.
Our children and youth really need to understand the TRUTH now that it is watered down by the world. I guess it always has been but I’ll be praying with you. I love the laundry verse. I call laundry the ongoing cycle of life!
Hope you have a wonderful time with the youth. Teenagers are so much fun!
Happy New Year!
Rhonda
I’m going to go pray over my laundry pile too – – I guess that just gives the laundress some fortitude…it doesn’t miraculously do the laundry?? LOL!
Okay, so this is officially my first blog comment. :) I have been following your blog for a couple of months now and God has just blessed my heart through you. My man is a full time youth pastor here in the small town of Salisbury, NC. :) We absolutely love serving our God and Savior!!! Anyway, we were at the first Xtreme in Gatlinburg. We came home on the 29th. It was amazing!!!!! Maybe one of these days, I will get to meet your sweet self. God bless you as you minister to all of us who are not nearly as well spoken as you are. :)
Love in Christ ~
