How Will You Answer Her?
I only have a minute this morning but I wanted to share a verse I read in my quiet time…
“Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand.” ~ Proverbs 8:1-2
I know each of us has different things by which the Holy Spirit shapes our walks. He’s been hammering on me about finding my strength in Him as I daily, rather moment by moment, present myself a living sacrifice.
The thing about sacrifices is they are painful. Nothing was ever slaughtered that didn’t get slashed and bloodied. (sorry for being so graphic this early in the a.m.) Do I eat it or not eat it? Buy it or not buy it? Go or not go? Serve or not serve? Have that conversation or not have it? In each one of these things, there’s a decision to be made. There’s a crossroads and waiting for us there is a woman called Wisdom.
She was the first of God’s works and appointed before eternity and God graciously says, “Ask and I will give of her freely to YOU.” To me. It bends the mind that the God of the Universe would set my feet on a path and when it is time to choose the right or the left, He will grace me with the same wisdom by which He formed the oceans and created mankind. I can KNOW what He wants from me. All I have to do is ask.
But in the asking is also the obligation to obey. Sometimes we don’t ask because we don’t want to know. May it never be! Though it kills us, my prayer for myself and for you today is that we will answer simply, ‘Yes, Lord.’ Even if I walk away from this thing limping, I choose You.
May every split in the road you face today be met with Wisdom! Be blessed, my dear family and friends!
A timely message as I need some Wisdom right now. What a waste it is to stew and fret than to ask God to give me Wisdom!
My favorite quote in regards to living sacrifice is “The problem with a living sacrifice is it keeps crawling off the altar.”
May my answer too be “Yes Lord”.

AMEN!!!! A perfect prayer for me today.
OH – and let’s do hope that we can get together outside of Moore Funeral Home!
This is so awesome!
I just read that same passage the other day. I felt like God was telling me that I need to seek His wisdom and His understanding for what I am going through right now.
Yes, I know that I should always do that, but sometimes we don’t make a conscious effort, you know?
So, I thought it a great reminder to me when I saw this on your blog today.
God works in wonderful ways.
Great remeinder! I love reading your blog.
I love this line, Lisa: “‘Yes, Lord.’ Even if I walk away from this thing limping, I choose You.” I want that to be the prayer of my heart, too. May I always choose Him!
I choose You, O Lord, no matter what! What a great prayer to start the day! I am so thankful that God promises to give us a lot of wisdom when we ask for it (we just need to remember to ask). Thanks for sharing another awesome post! I was blessed to read it! : )
Have a wonderful Thursday!
Julie
Desperately seeking that wisdom today.
I just keep reminding myself… ‘if we ask… he will give it GENEROUSLY’
…of course with obedience close at hand.
Thanks for that reminder.
Good passage! I was just reading about Lady Wisdom in my quiet time last night. She is one gal that I could stand to have a whole lot more girl time with…
I read that passage this morning too! I read through Proverbs during each month that has 31 days, you too?
Love this post. It’s just what I’ve been doing as a mom – crying out for wisdom and God so graciously gives when I do!
I just read on Micca’s blog something you wrote a year ago – asking why we P31 speakers never come to TX. I had to laugh and think that God heard you and He answered! We’ve been to TX a lot this past year and you know we’re coming to Houston in two weeks!
Also, Lysa and I will both be in Houston in March. Thanks for praying God would bring us south. I love it there!
Love your beautiful blog!
Renee
coming by to wish you a happy new year, hugs marina
May it be so! To follow no matter the consequences! Wholly devoted to Him!
"Even if I walk away from this thing limping, I choose You."
Amen & Amen!
I’m so glad to read this today, Lisa. Some big decisions are upon us during the next few months, and this post was a great reminder that God WANTS to give us the wisdom we need.
Love your thoughts on wisdom and sacrifice. I was thinking about sacrifice, too, after reading My Utmost for His Highest this week. The reading on the 8th was about being a living sacrifice, and I almost wrote about it on my blog, as well.
