A Beautiful Baptism
Proverbs 10:19 says, “When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise.” I could say many, many words about these pictures, but I prefer to let them speak for themselves. This is the baptism of my 9 year old son. I can’t even express the joy at his confession of Jesus Christ as Lord. For those of you who know him, you understand why. And so y’all know, this is Luke baptising him. As if the baptism isn’t enough, the whole father/son dynamic slays me all over again.
Thank you so much, Deedra, for ministering to us through your gift of photography. I’m seriously considering staging a fake baptism for the other boys so I can have a collage. You’ve captured the most important day of our son’s life with pure innocence and perfection and I’ll forever be grateful!
Yep. I’m crying. The hug picture at the end totally sent me over the edge.
My oldest daughter is going to be baptized soon. I can’t even imagine the joy that I’ll feel. I’m pretty sure I’ll be laid out flat on the floor for that one, too.
Congrats, mom. Rejoicing over my new little brother in Christ!
It doesn’t get any better than that :)
Oh, how beautiful!
The pictures in black and white made them seem even more pure to me. And,the hug at the end…well, there are no words that can truly capture that!
May God bless your son in ways that only our Heavenly Father can even phathom.
You have me in a puddle of tears here girl. I have two boys baptized and one who has accepted Christ but has not been baptized yet. Sweet!
I am crying and it was the pictures at the end that did it. Such a wonderful moment.
oh, just choking up. I love it. I don’t know you (yet!) but the pics truly speak so loudly of Love. precious! Thank you Jesus!
Tears for me to! You were right, those pictures say it best. Priceless!
Beautiful!
Thanks for sharing a beautiful private and yet very public moment.
I’ve been reading your blog for a little while, but never commented until today. Wow is the only word I can come up with. What an amazing day! I can’t wait until I get to turn into a blubbering mass of mommy when my girls are baptized (someday). How incredible…
Totally sobbing.
Love it, love it! I am so proud of your sweet boy and Hayden. Such a blessing for both of them!
How did you ever hold back the tears? That is…if you did. What a wonderful day that was and what great pictures to always treasure! I am tearing up just thinking about it.
The pictures are beautiful….our boy looks so pure and innocent. What a blessing to all who know him :-)
One more thing, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a man LOVE his children more than your Luke….you are one lucky girl!
This is the sweetest thing I’ve read (and seen) all day. How precious! And I love that you got it captured with pictures, because even it is something I still cherish. Especially those pictures!
How awesome. I am so proud of Sambo. He is a wonderful boy & I love him so much. It does my heart good when I remember Luke baptizing me & Jay. He is a wonderful man of God & I count mself blessed to be part of the congrgation at Ider Baptist. Love you all!!
Hey Lisa!
How awesome to have such an important moment preserved in such a special way! My husband baptized our daughter when she made her confession of Christ as Lord and it was about more than I could take! Especially when he could barely say “I now baptize you Cecily my daughter and now my sister in Christ!”
By the way, I am reading the “Spectacular Sins” book, I just can’t seem to find the time to sit at the computer long enough to join in the discussion. However, I am being tremendously blessed by the book and a renewed understanding and love for the Sovereignty of God!
I love the one of them looking intently at each other. It is priceless and Deedra captured it!
I’m with Deb. I love the one of them looking at each other. It represents what should happen every day in all of our lives. We as children should look up to our Father for guidance because he is always looking at us!
I love how drenched he is in the third pic. Such an incredible visual of what happens spiritually. They are beautiful. (And I’m cracking up at the staged baptisms…do it!) ;)
how sweet!!!!
Precious beyond words. And the hug? Incredible.
That was a sweet day. Love the pictures. Deedra did a wonderful job. I wonder if she is for hire???
My eyes are stinging. That last one slays me.
That is just precious!!!
Beautiful Lisa (as you already know)! thank you for sharing! I can really see the love shining out of both your men…
that brought me to tears!
Our church allows the husbands/daddies to baptize their wives or children
It is so amazing that I cry everytime
My 5YO and 9YO have both professed the Lord as their Savior my 9YO is terrified to be baptized but my Cole – he is ready to go!!!
Love it!

Made my day

Kim
Oh Girl,
This so deeply touched my heart. I am rejoicing and the angels are singing.
Hope one day for my husband to experience this very moment.
Love you so much. Hug that young man for me.
SOB!
Such an amazing image, a hug from his earthly father to symbolize the hug from his Heavenly Father –
beautiful Lisa.
Welcome to the family, precious brother in Christ!!
Perfect trust captured on film – beautiful. blessings, marlene
Beautiful seems to be the word of choice for many. I echo their sentiments. I long for the day when my boys make the same decision.
Beautiful pictures. What a lovely thing to have the moment captured so perfectly. These will be a treasure for you and your son.
sooooooooooooo precious!!!!
What a precious record you’ve been given of one of the most precious days of your lives!
I am so blessed to have experienced this special moment in both your son and Hayden’s life….and Luke’s, from this super-close distance! It was breathtaking and I have been blessed every time I looked at these pictures! (which made for lots of tears during editing!) It’s a moment I will treasure for the rest of my life!
Just absolutely precious. What a treasure.
Precious pictures, but the last one sent me into the ugly cry. How sweet it is…..
Rebecca
Beautiful — what an incredible picture of father – son relationship. Thanks for sharing.
On a side note, I was quite impressed that your hubs is not wearing the traditional baptismal wader/ robe thing.
Leave it to me to notice something like that.
Tears again just looking at the picuture. It was so sweet!
Awesome. Beautiful.
I remember the day when my husband baptized our son who was 5 1/2.
He was so small his feet couldn’t touch the bottom of the tank. When his head went under his feet came flying up. It was so great.
Congratulations to your family.
I am in an absolute puddle of tears! Such joy!
These pictures are awesome! I was going to say that the last one was my fave but I think they are all awesome!
(If you get the staged baptisms set up let me know so I can get Madeline penciled in! LOL)
Oh how you are beaming inside and out! these pictures really are beautiful and very touching. Thank you for sharing.
So beautiful! I have tears in my eyes. I hope to see my husband doing the same thing one day. I’m very happy for your family!
Lysa,
Awesome pictures :)
I thought you might be interested in this info. I put up a post yesterday about a movie/documentary that is coming out tomorrow March 27th. It is called “The Cross” (The Arthur Blessitt Story). The movie is going to be released in certain cities, and the producers of the film are asking churches to support it… If the movie is playing in your area, maybe your Church might want to go see it…If you want to see the trailer, you can click over to my site and look at yesterday’s post…
Thanks and I am looking forward to seeing you at the online conference :)
Blessings, Kim
grace personified…

Thanks so much for sharing that beautiful moment with us all.
Sigh.
That last picture is a treasure. I love my boys’ baptism pictures too – their daddy also baptized them. We are so blessed.
Much Love,
Jan
