A Thanksgiving Giveaway
***THANKS FOR ALL YOUR ENTRIES! COMMENTS NOW CLOSED.
WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED WEDNESDAY, NOV. 24TH.***
Giveaways are incredibly fun to me – especially if I’m able to offer you something I really, really love myself. That’s the case this week!
Erin and Mary Jo are fellow ministry wives who have created the neatest tool for scripture memory. {Those of you in on the scripture memory challenge at the LPM blog know we can use all the tools we can get!} Erin is also president of Worthy of the Prize Sports Ministry so think spiritual fitness in conjunction with physical fitness. Their product is called Fit Bands. Essentially, it is a decorative wrist or neck lanyard with a set of scripture cards attached that can be used during a walk to have your memory verses at your fingertips without being IN your fingertips. I love it! Can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to lug around my spiral notebook only to not have it fit in my pocket or then having to lay it down/pick it up from the park bench.
Here’s a visual for you:
The bands are available in many different fabrics that you can see here or the girls do custom bands if you have team colors, etc. you would like to coordinate.
To enter, simply answer this question in the comments: “What is your Black Friday Tradition? Shop or Not Shop?”
The contest will be open until TOMORROW (Tuesday, Nov. 23) at 10 p.m. and one winner announced Wednesday. She will receive 1 Fitband and 1 Set of Devotional Cards. The devotional card set includes 31 cards – 1 for each day. On each card, there is a devotional thought, a corresponding verse, and a self-reflective question.
Have Fun!
p.s. Please remember to continue praying for Randall and Jenni. Update here.
Stay as far away from any and all stores!!
My Black Friday tradition is to stay far away from shopping.
No shopping for me… unless i saw something that is a ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE… which is rare.
My youngest and I stay home and make some sort of gingerbread thing – house, train, tree, village – while my husband and oldest son get up and hit the stores very early!
Black Friday tradition – hubby and I look over ads on Thanksgiving day and decide if getting up early is worth the trip. If there are good sales and give aways, we get up early for the lines. If not, then we don’t go. BUT, the sales have to be REALLY GOOD for us to get up and out that early.
Sleep! After a big day of cooking and family, it’s the couch and some good movies for me.
Black Friday tradition — me and my girls are up and out at …. around 8am. We try to miss the wild crazy rush and still get a few doorbuster sales. Mostly, we just have fun.
Much to my teenage girls disgust, my tradition is to avoid stores at all cost.
Smiles!
It was shop when I had my shopping buddy, but she moved away!!!
Absolutely NO SHOP!!!! Our Friday after Thanksgiving tradition is set in stone…breakfast out early and then on to the Christmas Tree Farm to get a fresh tree, wreaths and a stop at the hot houses to pick up poinsettias. The five of us go every year.
I don’t shop. I tend to have all gift buying done before Thanksgiving so I can just sit back, relax and watch all the craziness on tv.
Love to get up early Friday morning when it is still dark outside to find all the early morning bargains! I love the holidays!! My house is completely decorated and we finished hanging the lights and wreaths outside over the weekend!!!
No shopping…We sleep in and spend the day relaxing and usually travelling back home from the in-laws in the afternoon/evening.
I’ve never gone shopping on Black Friday- until this year. Hubby and I have found a few things that are good deals. So we’re heading out together. Let’s see if we survive!!
Our Black Friday tradition – NO shopping! Set up the Christmas tree, break out the Christmas decor, music, books, and movies… Make some Holiday Punch (equal parts gingerale, Fruit punch, and a heaping helping of raspberry sherbet) and break out the chocolates. Spend the day listening to Christmas music or watching Christmas movies while decorating.
I don’t usually shop, but since we moved to where we are an hour away from stores…I might shop since we will be at my mom’s near some shopping.
My husband, along with his two brothers and dad, get up at the crack of dawn to be at the stores to wait for them to open. They love the crowds so they take the “lists” and get as much as they can find. All the women sleep in, meet the men for lunch, and then decide if we want to venture out ouselves.
Every year my sister-in-law and I plan out our Black Friday shopping adventure on Thanksgiving day and then leave ridiculously early to shop til we drop.
Be brave, grab some coffee, put on the comfy shoes and SHOP!!!
I shop! I don’t get up early to get all the early-bird bargins.
Black Friday? What’s Black Friday? Just kidding. Are you kidding me? I attempted to shop Wal-Mart on a Black Friday many, many years ago and decided I did not want to ever do that again! So my Black Friday shopping tradition? No Shopping…stay at home in my sweats and enjoy NOT being shoved around by all kinds of people trying to get the item(s) they’re after.
For all those who brave the day, have fun!
Karen
NO shopping!! (unless it’s Amazon!)
Those are adorable!
No shopping. A&M vs. t.u. football game;)
No, shopping for me. I buy ahead as much as I can. Thanks for hosting the give away..this is a neat idea. Blessings on your ministry.
I LOVE those bands. Oh I hope I win :)
I usually stay home. I have only gone out a couple of times for must have items.
No shopping here! I’ve been before but it’s just not my thing! I think I’ll sleep as late as the boys will let me… fix something yummy for breakfast… and wait on the hubs to get home from work and watch the IRON BOWL!
Roll Tide Roll!
shop! this year we’re visiting family for Thanksgiving – can’t wait to hit the stores with my mom and dad.
I SHOP!!!!! Me, my mom, and my two sisters always meet up around 4 AM to get started and then we make the rounds. Usually hitting Kohl’s first then Target, but it all depends on who has what we want the most!! We plan our morning the day before, at Thanksgiving dinner… after dinner we gather all the ads and map out our plan of action =) We always stop at McDonald’s for breakfast halfway!!! I cannot hardly wait!!!!!
I always have to work. So that’s a no shop for me!
Tradition: My husband and I have our children make a list. We look over all internet/ paper listings to see if any sales fit what the need. Most of the time they do. We let the children go play at Nana’s that day and we are up 5 am and out. It’s so fun to watch my husband try to get in on this shopping. He hurries around trying to get to stuff before it’s gone. I enjoy it mostly for the laughs I get from him. It’s a special time we have together. If we don’t get the sale then it’s alright no need for the fighting amongst the crowds, but it’s fun to try.
I always make big plans to do it. Then the alarm goes off and I think It’s too crazy and don’t go. Of course I have big plans to do it this year. So we’ll see!
no shopping this year Im going to try to get my g-sons to really think the holida season and family. this is a project i been working on for 4 years. they have friends now and family that loves them so I trying to get a old tradition started back up that i let go a long time ago.
I will shop on Black Friday if I have the money but the pushing and stress of trying to get the gifts before the store runs out is so not fun. I will probably be out shopping this year but not at 5am ha ha.
I love the wristbands, great idea!!
Jenn
Nope!! Not a black Friday shopper and pretty sure I’ll never be!
Starbucks.Shopping.Laughing alot at all the silly people. Taking big deep breaths, as you walk thru the stinky crowds.Maybe buying something but going with the intention of just taking it all in…. Soak it up it’s not around long!
Praying for the family you posted about. Gosh how heart breaking!
I don’t normally shop on Black Fridays…the parking is so crazy. However, if there was a good deal I would. Thanks for the chance to win these cool cards…
I honestly stay away……They are just gimmicks to get you to spend more money….
Wow! I need this! Last year when my friends and I ran our first 1/2 Marathon we made scripture cards to read at each mile of the race……they were not near as cute as this! What a handy way to read scripture while running.
As far as Black Friday……I’m a shopper. :)
Believe it or not, but my sweet husband has gotten up the past three years and gone shopping. He leaves the house at 4 a.m.!!! He plans on doing it again this year and quite frankly, I’m very happy to let him!!!
I love this!! I try not to shop! the deals aren’t usually that great.

No shopping! I wait and shop with the crowds the day after Christmas. Two days of fighting, I mean shopping, would be too much!
My Mom and I have been going to the malls as early as 5:00 a.m. for at least 20 years now. It’s not about the shopping, it’s about the time we spend together and the tradition. We have a great time. I love it! We actually don’t spend much money, we have scaled way back the past few years.

Since hubbie went into full-time I have been away from home 7 years (as so many of us are), so I run home as fast as I can…me, my mom, my two sisters, my daughter, and nieces make the best girl day of it possible. We DO NOT leave too early…we s…l…o…w…l…y get dressed, head out for a girlie breakfast, then hit SOUTH PARK MALL IN CHARLOTTE, NC then head over to Northgate, then Concord Mills… I am so ready for our special day. WE eat lots of junk food, do a lot of people watching (my personal favorite) and get a few gifts. Its all about the time together…this will be our first Thanksgiving and Christmas without my grandmother…the Queen of pastors wives….pray for me :)

Nicole
Black Friday is usually spent decorating for Christmas which I find a lot more enjoyable than shopping!
Over the many years I’ve done both ………..now it’s mostly online shopping.
I must admit the excitement is not as contagious online. I do love the Christmas season.
